Here are the top stories today in Lakewood:
- Jefferson County Sheriff arrests three suspects in catalytic converter thefts. Thefts of catalytic converters from vehicles have risen by 136 percent since 2017 in Colorado. And Jeffco Sheriff's office announced that they had arrested three individuals and charged them with attempted theft. (CBS4)
- White Swan motel entrepreneur launches new roadside motel concept in Del Norte. Lauren Coleman continues to dream big with her White Swan Motel project in Lakewood but is also excited about her latest project in southern Colorado, a rejuvenated roadside motel in Del Norte, called the Mellow Moon Lodge. - State of Colorado's website hit with cyberattack. It is believed that an anonymous group of foreign actors hacked the Colorado.gov website. The attack also took down other states' websites across the country. A temporary webpage has been set up to serve the public. (CPR)
- RTD proposes cheaper, less complicated fare program. Under the two proposed plans, the Regional Transportation District bus and train rides could become more affordable and more equitable, and not reduce current service levels. (CPR)
- Wheat Ridge's Navigator program provides services to city's homeless. Launched in late 2020, the program is designed to provide those without a place to live, into homes. The program directly supports those experiencing homelessness and collaborates with local nonprofits and community services. (Transcript)
