Park and recreation opportunities are at the center of many experiences and memories. Local parks often provide our first experiences in nature and our introduction to a favorite hobby or physical activity. They are places to gather with friends and family, spaces to celebrate life’s special moments, spots of respite and healing, sites that connect us with essential community services, and so much more. Parks and recreation centers have been essential throughout the COVID-19 pandemic and have contributed to Lakewood’s strength, vibrancy and resiliency.

This year, during the nationwide celebration of Park and Recreation Month in July, Lakewood invites residents to share their park and recreation stories by tagging #LakewoodRec on Facebook or Instagram, or by submitting an online form at Lakewood.org/July. Every memory or experience shared receives an entry in a random drawing for a chance to win golf, park and recreation prizes.

Special programs during the month include a guided hike and a paddleboard tour at Lakewood’s Bear Creek Lake Park. On July 15, Lakewood Recreation will offer a 15% discount on personal training packages.
