Here are the top stories today in Lakewood:
- Colorado hatches plan to spend $200M on homeless. Gov. Polis and state lawmakers are proposing to spend $200M on transitional housing, addiction treatment, and a repurposing the Ridge View campus in Arapahoe County to become a treatment facility for addiction. (CO Sun)
- Edgewater is getting a new police chief. Eric Sonstegard, 51, is headed to Colorado to become Edgewater's police department after 26 years with the Oxnard Police Department in California. (VC Star)
- Metro Denver is way behind when it comes to bridging the gender pay gap. A recent study from the Pew Research Center indicates that across the metroplex, men still outpace women when it comes to pay equality. (KDVR)
- Red Rocks and most of Denver's venues add 30 percent fees to ticket prices. It never feels great to pay those pesky ticket fees. You know, they're those 20 to 30 precent fees that are added to the listed ticket price for shows at your favorite concert venue. Some of the fee revenue is remitted to the City and County of Denver, some is used for venue upkeep, and some is kept by AXS, and rarely do the bands see any of it. (FOX31)
- King Soopers' union employees that crossed the picket line facing steep fines. UFCW Local 7members that crossed the picket line when the union was striking against the grocery chain last January, are being fined as much as $250 per day. (9News)
