Just under 50 percent of residents in Jefferson County haven't been leaving their homes at all amid the stay-at-home order, according to recent anonymous cell phone data.

Jefferson County has extended the stay-at-home order through May 8; however, the extended order differs from the previous statewide order — non-critical businesses are now allowed to offer curbside delivery of products, health officials said. Medical, dental or veterinary voluntary or elective surgeries and procedures can also begin again, under certain conditions to minimize the risk of COVID-19 transmission to patients, healthcare workers, community members and others, Jefferson County Public Health announced Monday.

"Our goal has always been to reduce the severity of this crisis with as short a disruption to people's economic livelihoods as possible. We hope this update to enable non-Critical Businesses to begin operating in this manner helps us start to get back on our feet," Mark Johnson, Jefferson County Public Health's executive director, said in a statement.

Denver, Boulder, Broomfield, Adams and Arapahoe counties have also extended their stay-at-home orders through May 8.

According to government data posted Thursday afternoon, 15,284 people have been infected with the new coronavirus in Colorado among 72,390 people who have been tested since the outbreak began. Around 2,697 people have been hospitalized, and the death toll has reached 777.
