I have a limited number of sponsorships available to introduce our Lakewood Daily readers to local businesses they need to know about. If that's you, then I invite you to learn more and secure your spot now.

Here are the top stories today in Lakewood:

  1. Colorado ski towns boomed during the pandemic, but some worry that the boom is over. Towns like Crested Butte and Breckenridge saw record numbers of visits during the pandemic, and for many ski towns, it seemed like the whole world suddenly discovered the lure of outdoor adventure. But the rush to the great outdoors may not last should the economy hit a rough patch. (CPR)
  2. Marijuana sales hit rock bottom as prices hit record low. Marijuana sales in Colorado have hit a three-year low. Sales have falling 22 percent on a year-over-year basis. Many blame the drop off on the end of the pandemic along with other state's legalization of recreational marijuana. (Westword)
  3. High fire danger on Friday. Before a cold front moves into the area on Saturday afternoon, warm temps on Friday have caused a fire warning to be issued for the northeast plains from noon to 6 p.m. on Friday. (FOX31)
  4. Important dates for the Colorado November election. Add these dates to your calendar for this November's mail ballot election. Find out when ballots will be mailed out, when voting centers will be open, and the deadlines to mail and drop off your mail ballot. (9News)
  5. Most people who lost their homes in the Marshall Fire haven't filed a permit to rebuild. Of the 1,000+ homes lost in the Marshall Fire last December, only a small fraction of those have actually filed for building permits. It's not an easy process, and some have opted to sell their lots instead of building a new house themselves. (9News)
