  • What is a PIF? You've seen these added fees when you make a purchases at certain stores in Lakewood, but what are they for and why are we paying them? A Public Improvement Fee (PIF) is a fee that require tenants to collect fees on sales transactions to pay for on-site improvements. A PIF is a fee and not a tax. Examples of these improvements are things like curbs and sidewalks, parking facilities, storm management systems, sanitary sewer systems, road development (within the site) and outdoor public plazas. There are seven locations in Lakewood that have a PIF - Belmar, Colorado Mills, Denver West, Promenade at Denver West, Cafarelli Center, Creekside Shopping Center and Lamar Station. Have more questions about PIFs in Lakewood? You can reach out to Lakewood's Economic Development team.
