Here are the top stories in Lakewood today:
- Converted Burger King may become first drive-thru pot place on West Colfax. Ajoya opened up their new location on May 15, and they are working to get approval from the City of Lakewood to operate a drive-thru dispensary window. As part of that process, the dispensary must follow a set of security and surveillance rules. Lakewood doesn't require a special permit for drive-thru dispensary sales, just an application for a license to modify the premises. (Westword)
- RTD still doesn't allow e-bikes on their buses or trains. As more people purchase electric bikes, the Regional Transportation District hasn't changed their stance on not allowing them to be taken onboard trains or buses. (Denverite)
- Requirements to make reservations to access parks and recreation areas not making everyone happy. Adjusting to the new system to protect Colorado's most visited natural places is creating issues as visitors and land managers get used to the new restrictions. (CPR)
- Removing Barriers to Educator Preparation program benefits Colorado teachers. Student teachers across the state now has access to up to $22,000 in stipends, and some teachers that began teaching during the pandemic may qualify for up to $5,000 in loan forgiveness. (CO Sun)
