Alleged Shoplift-Carjack Spree At Walmart Sends Duo To Jail
Brandee Eighmy and Alex Howland are accused of trying to steal two cars in the parking lot while fleeing Walmart security in Lakewood.
LAKEWOOD, CO – A duo accused of attempting to carjack two vehicles while fleeing from Walmart theft-prevention officers in Lakewood are scheduled to appear in Jefferson County District court this week facing a pack of charges.
Brandee Eighmy, 25, and Alex M. Howland, 31, are currently in the JeffCo jail each on $25,000 bond, accused of theft, armed carjacking, possession of dangerous weapons, drug possession, assault, robbery, violating parole and other charges after an incident Sept. 27 at a Lakewood Walmart.
According to police reports, around 8:50 p.m. Eighmy and Howland were observed by Walmart security at at 440 Wadsworth Blvd. allegedly stuffing clothing and other small items into their own clothes and pockets. As they tried to leave the store, two security guards confronted them and Howland allegedly became violent, punching a security guard. He also told the guard, "You better get the [expletive] back or I'm gonna stab you or she's going to shoot you," an arrest affidavit said.

When the two were unable to find the keys for the car they arrived in, Howland allegedly approached the driver of a car in the parking lot and tried to carjack the car, displaying a weapon, police said. Eighmy also allegedly tried to force her way into a vehicle, which drove away, the affidavit said. Then the two reportedly threw a gun and several knives over a fence at the end of the parking lot into a ravine. They were unable to scale the fence and ran away. Police found the two hiding in the yard of a residence in the 200 block of Vance Street. Police said they found meth, drug paraphernalia and a stolen credit card in a backpack associated with the two.
Both Howland and Eighmy have past criminal arrests and convictions.

They are both scheduled to appear for preliminary hearings in JeffCo District Court on Oct. 12.
