Here are the top stories today in Lakewood:

  1. CDOT's crumbling infrastructure takes its toll on aging Floyd Hill overpass. Several cars were damaged when a four foot wide hole in the road surface broke away on the I-70 overpass last Wednesday. The hole was so big, it took more than a day to repair. The Colorado Department of Transportation took the opportunity to use the road damage as yet another reason that state lawmakers should approve the $700M the agency is seeking to replace the stretch of highway that includes the crumbling overpass. (CBS4)
  2. RTD gets $53 million grant as part of program to restore service to where it was pre-COVID-19. The grant will help RTD return to full-service. The funds are from the Department of Transportation's American Rescue Act. (CBS4)
  3. Family moves to Colorado, then the trailer with all their belongings gets stolen. A family moving to Denver didn't quite get the welcome they were expecting after their belongings were stolen, along with the trailer their property was packed in, last Saturday. A 7News Denver Gives page has been set up to help the family. (7News)
  4. Eldorado Canyon will be the first state park to have timed entry. If you are traveling to Eldorado Canyon State Park by car this summer, it looks like you'll need a timed-entry ticket, should the state's parks commission approve a recommendation this week. (CO Sun)
  5. Is the Colorado Springs Police Department spying on social activists? The bombshell Colorado Spring Independent report alleges that CSPD had placed undercover officers within several activist groups. Police say they were investigating criminal activity, not trying to interfere with individuals exercising their First Amendment rights. (CPR)
