Free Disaster Training Offered To Lakewood Residents
The City of Lakewood is offering residents free training for basic disaster response skills.
LAKEWOOD, CO — Lakewood's Community Emergency Response Team is offering free training in the city to help residents prepare for a disaster. Attendees can learn about fire safety, light search and rescue, team organization, emergency and disaster medical operations, disaster psychology and terrorism awareness.
The three-day, free training will be held from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Jan. 18, Jan. 25 and Feb. 1 at the Lakewood Civic Center's Employee Collaboration Room, 480 S. Allison Pkwy.
Visit the city's website to register for the emergency course, which is expected to fill up quickly, officials said.

The City of Lakewood officially became a 'StormReady' community this year. The National Weather Service designation is awarded to governments, universities, military bases and other communities that take the necessary steps to safeguard residents from dangerous weather.
