- Celebrate Colorado Day on August 1. Free cake and free admission on August 1 at the History Colorado is a great way to celebrate the state's 146th birthday. (Arvada Press)
- Lakewood Police agent that ended shooting spree in December receives national award. National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund named Agent Agent Ashley Ferris as officer of the month for her heroic action that ended a shooting spree last December. (9News)

Jefferson County works to decrease wildfire risk. Heavily forested areas and steep terrain combined with increasingly dry conditions all contribute to high-fire risk. These factors and others make fast-moving wildfires harder to contain and require us to think in new ways about growth, development and forest health. (Jeffco)
