Horse Rescued From Deep Mud At Bear Creek Lake Park
Rescue crews saved a horse that was stuck in the mud in Lakewood Saturday.

LAKEWOOD, CO — West Metro Fire crews rescued a horse that had sunk deep into the mud at Bear Creek Lake Park Saturday.
The owner was walking the horse near the lake, when the animal was "spooked" and started sinking in the mud, fire officials said.
Firefighters used plywood as a platform, and dug down to free the horse and pull him out with a rope.

"It took about two hours to get the horse free," West Metro Fire Rescue said in a tweet.
"So you know he was pretty tired after all that."

The Lakewood Police Department and Jefferson County park rangers also assisted with the rescue.
