Lakewood Coronavirus: New Cases, Jeffco Public Schools Rates
Here's the latest news and a breakdown of new coronavirus cases in Lakewood.
LAKEWOOD, CO — Over the past two weeks, 179 new coronavirus cases have been confirmed in Lakewood, according to Jefferson County Public Health data. Since Sept. 1, the city has seen a small uptick in the number of bi-weekly cases reported.
As of Monday, there have been 1,990 cases in Lakewood since the outbreak began. The rate of infection per 1,000 residents in the city is 12.72, the data shows.
Jeffco Public Schools has launched a COVID-19 dashboard that tracks cases in each school. There have been 60 cases in the district since Aug. 31, and as of Monday, there were six 'active' cases, the dashboard shows:

Over the past week, 340 new cases have been reported in Jefferson County.
There have been 5,794 cases and 250 deaths in the county since the outbreak began, health officials confirmed.

Around 5,013 people have recovered in Jeffco and 26 people were hospitalized as of Monday.

Colorado public health officials have established a coronavirus dial for each county that shows different levels of 'openness.' Jefferson County is under the Safer at Home Level 2. To enter the 'Protect Our Neighbors phase, Jeffco needs to contain surges in cases and outbreaks through testing, case investigation, contact tracing, isolation, quarantine, site-specific closures and enforcement of public health orders:
- Sufficient hospital bed capacity
- Sufficient personal protective equipment supply
- Stable or declining COVID-19 hospitalizations
- Sufficient testing capacity
- Fewer new cases
- Ability to implement case investigation and contact tracing protocol
- Documented surge-capacity plan for case investigation and contact tracing
- Documented strategies to offer testing to close contacts
Over the past week, 4,091 new cases have been reported in Colorado. The state has seen a spike in cases over the past month, which have been linked to colleges.
As of Monday, 69,490 people have been infected with the coronavirus in Colorado among 894,996 people who have been tested since the outbreak began, health officials confirmed. Around 7,530 people have been hospitalized, and the death toll has reached 1,945 after 31 people died over the past week.
