Lakewood Food And Sock Drive Helps the Homeless
The most-requested clothing items for families with children experiencing homelessness are socks.

LAKEWOOD, CO -- The City of Lakewood will be collecting food and winter clothes for the homeless until Nov. 17, but what are really needed are socks, especially for children. Socks are the number-one item requested by families with children, who make up at least half of the people experiencing homelessness in Metro Denver. Lakewood, in partnership with the Metro Mayor's Caucus, will host a food and sock drive for several weeks in November to benefit the Action Center, which serves residents who are homeless in Lakewood and Jefferson County.
The drive is also in recognition of Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week, which is Nov. 11-19 this year.
Donations of non-perishable food and socks are accepted through Nov 17 at drop off boxes in Lakewood facilities below:
