Lakewood July 4th Fireworks, Beer Garden and More: 2018 Guide
Lakewood's new Free July 4th Big Boom Bash takes place at Jeffco Stadium, rain or shine.
LAKEWOOD, CO – Independence Day is drawing near, and the City of Lakewood is rolling out a brand new free July 4 celebration and fireworks display at the Jeffco Stadium – rain or shine.
Big Boom Bash will include activities for kids, vendor booths and local food trucks, a beer garden, community art, a reading of the Declaration of Independence and more, capped off with a 20-minute fireworks display choreographed to music provided by MIX 100.
This family-friendly event is free with food and beverages available for purchase... or bring your own picnic.

This is your best, legal, option to enjoy the July 4th fireworks tradition.
Any non-professional fireworks are ILLEGAL in Lakewood, even sparklers, Roman candles and smoke bombs. Fines for illegal fireworks can reach $2,650, the city said. Also, Jefferson County has declared countywide Stage 1 fire restrictions, which also ban any non-professional fireworks.

Jeffco Stadium is located at 500 Kipling St. in Denver (see map below).
Schedule
- 5:30 p.m. | Gates open. Music, games, art and vendors!
- 7 p.m. | Informal community reading of the Declaration of Independence
- 7:30 p.m. | Field opens for seating, weather permitting, on a first-come first-served basisApprox.
- 9:15 p.m. | Fireworks at dark accompanied by music from Mix 100
DIRECTIONS & PARKING
Primary parking areas are at Jeffco and Trailblazer Stadiums as well as Creighton and Dennison schools. Please note that you will be able to enter Jeffco, Trailblazer and Creighton parking lots from either direction of Kipling Street. You may only enter Dennison parking lot at the intersection of Independence Street and West 4th Avenue.
When the event ends, all cars from Jeffco, Trailblazer and Creighton will be required to exit north on Kipling. You will only be able to exit Dennison Parking lot heading east onto West 4th Avenue.
Pedestrian & Bicyclist Directions
- From East by W. 4th Ave to north end of stadium for entrances.
- From West through main entrance of stadium
- From South is restricted to the walkway along Kipling St.
- From North along Kipling St.
- Please note the foot/bike path connecting 1st Ave to Independence Street will be closed.
Fireworks
The fireworks show will include "thousands of shells hand-selected to create a dazzling display for Lakewood, including color-changing strobes and brocades, sun rings, blue jellyfish, butterflies, falling leaves, and other effects," the city said. The show will incorporate "three different launch sites that will result in a dynamic array, with fireworks reaching heights of 800 feet."
Remember, Fireworks are ILLEGAL in Lakewood, especially with this dry weather. Leave them to the pros.
Music
MIX 100 will play "contemporary hits and patriotic songs throughout the evening." the city said. The fireworks display will be choreographed to music simulcast by MIX 100. Spectators watching from outside the stadium are encouraged to tune in to 100.3 FM.

Community art project and kids' lawn games.
Food Trucks
A variety of food trucks with food for purchase. Vendor applications for food trucks are now being accepted.
Beer Garden
The Lakewood Beer Garden (presented by Foothills Credit Union) will feature beer from local Lakewood breweries and hard cider, for purchase.
Vendor Booths
Booths from Lakewood businesses, nonprofit organizations and local artisans will be set up in the stadium. Vendor applications are now being accepted the city said.
