Here are the top stories today in Lakewood:
- Lakewood has more than 625,000 trees, find out if your neighborhood needs more. A recently released survey of Lakewoods tree canopy indicate that trees cover nearly 16 percent of Lakewood's landmass. However, the city's sustainability plan, has that number pegged at30 percent tree coverage by 2025. (Local Today)
- Lakewood church vandalized multiple times. The United Methodist Church in Lakewood has been hosting a safe parking program for the homeless, and since June has repeatedly been the target of vandals. (FOX31)
- U.S. Supreme Court's ruling may complicate how we fight climate change. The ruling on June 30, will limit the EPA's authority to regulate greenhouse gas emissions, essentially striping the EPA of the authority to create emissions caps. (CU Today)
- Performance about Denver's climate future spells out risks. Theatrical group takes attendees on a tour about what metro Denver's future will look like if natural resources are depleted were we not to respond to the climate issues facing society today. The program runs through July 31. (PBS)
- Too hot down here on the Front Range? Escape the summer heat by heading up to Breckenridge. It's a great little town to hang out in during the summer, lots of festivals and things going on, and it's not gonna be as hot at 9,600 feet. (Out There)
