Lakewood Nonprofit Offers Supplies For 5,700 Thanksgiving Meals
The Action Center is handing out meal kits to households this Thanksgiving.
LAKEWOOD, CO — A Lakewood-based nonprofit is handing out more than 1,400 Thanksgiving meal kits Sunday to families in need. The kits, which will be offered in a drive-thru at Jeffco Stadium, will create more than 5,700 meals, the organization said.
More than 400 volunteers are contributing to The Action Center's Sunday kit distribution event, which is sponsored by the Lakewood-based medical device company Terumo BCT.
“Nearly two-thirds of Colorado households are struggling to cover basic needs. This event meets some of the critical needs during a financially straining time for many families,” Pam Brier, The Action Center's executive director, said in a statement. “The families that we serve are too often forced to choose between putting food on the table and paying the bills during the holiday season. We are grateful that we are able to help alleviate some of that burden.”
