Two drivers raced down a busy Lakewood avenue during rush hour and witnesses said one shot at the other, causing a wreck.

LAKEWOOD, CO -- Lakewood police are seeking information about two racing cars who tore down West Alameda Avenue during rush hour Monday, with one driver allegedly shooting at another causing a car crash. Around 6 p.m., witnesses said a dark-colored Nissan Altima and a dark-colored PT Cruiser were driving erratically. After traveling westbound to South Pierce Street, both cars made U-turns and raced eastbound on West Alameda, police said in a press statement.
Around the South Harlan Street intersection, witness said the driver of the Nissan fired one-to-three shots out the driver's side window toward the PT Cruiser. The PT Cruiser crashed near West Ellsworth Avenue and and South Benton Street, and the driver exited the car and fled into a back yard, the police statement said.
The Nissan continued eastbound on West Alameda. Police found no shell casings, they reported.
