Lakewood School Hosts Teen Vaping Prevention Workshop

As many vaping-related illnesses are confirmed across the country, a school in Lakewood is hosting a teen vaping-prevention workshop.

LAKEWOOD, CO — Lakewood High School will be hosting a free workshop for parents, teachers, law enforcement, coaches and other community members who want to prevent teen vaping.

Start the Conversation: How to talk to young people about vaping will be held from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Nov. 7 in Lakewood High School's Lecture Center, 9700 W. 8th Ave. A light dinner will be provided at the event. Those who plan to attend are asked to RSVP by Nov. 5.

The Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment is investigating what could be the state's first vaping-related death. Health officials are awaiting autopsy results for an 18-year-old from the Denver area who may have died from a vaping-related illness that's being reported across the country. So far, 11 cases of the illness have been confirmed in Colorado.

Symptoms include shortness of breath, fatigue, chest pain, vomiting, coughing and a fever. Many people's bodies appear to suffer symptoms of an inhalation injury.
