Man Accused Of Carjacking, Driving Over Elderly Women In Lakewood

LAKEWOOD, CO — A man has been arrested in connection with a carjacking that left two elderly women seriously injured, the 1st Judicial District Attorney's Office announced Wednesday.

Robert Harrison, 42, faces 26 counts, including attempted first-degree murder, first-degree assault, motor vehicle theft, theft from an at-risk adult and obstructing a police officer, the DA's office said.

Officers were called to the 400 block of Benton Street on Oct. 12 after witnesses said they saw a man steal a car and drive over the women. Harrison had pulled the women out of the vehicle before climbing into the driver's seat and taking off, court documents show.

The officers found the women — ages 89 and 78 — lying on the driveway bleeding, police said.

The women were hospitalized in serious condition, police said. As of Wednesday, their condition was not known.

Harrison is being held at the Jefferson County Jail. His preliminary hearing is scheduled for Nov. 17.
