Man Killed By Lakewood Police Identified
A man fired at officers before he was shot, Lakewood police said.
LAKEWOOD, CO — A man who was shot and killed Tuesday by Lakewood police has been identified, officials said.
Ty Spencer Walvatne-Donahey, 32, shot at officers at least twice before he was killed, according to the Lakewood Police Department.
Officers were called around noon to a vehicle dealership near West Colfax Avenue and Garrison Street after they received a report that a man was trying to break into vehicles on the lot.

After the officers were unable to find the man, another call came in about a nearby robbery at a Safeway, officials said.
"Agents investigated and found no indication that a robbery had occurred," Lakewood police said in a community alert.

The officers then saw Walvatne-Donahey — who was described in their first call — at West Colfax and Glen Moor Drive. They went after him, and he pointed his gun at officers and fired before they shot him, according to the Lakewood Police Department.
Walvatne-Donahey was pronounced dead soon after, police said.

No officers were injured in the shooting, officials said.
"Per department policy, the Lakewood Agents who shot the suspect will be placed on administrative leave pending an internal investigation," the community alert read.
The Jefferson County Critical Incident Response Team will investigate the shooting, officials said.
