  1. CDOT plans to expand Bustang service by August. The State of Colorado's Department of Transportation is spending $30M to expand the bus service. The expanded routes will include adding additional trips to routes that cover Denver to Colorado Springs, Grand Junction and Fort Collins. (9News)
  2. Gov. Jared Polis said that the State of Colorado is hiring. The plan announced on Thursday is focused on developing programs that support Colorado's workforce with additional opportunities for apprenticeships and training. The goal is to provide the state's workers with more financial resources as the cost of living in Colorado continues to grow. (FOX31)
  3. Is the Fed aiming for a recession, and will it pop Denver's housing market? For better or worse, the Federal Reserve is trying to make an impact on the inflation rates, but will it force the economy into an unwanted recession? (KDVR)
  4. More black bear visits expected along the Front Range. With several late spring winter storms, it could impact natural food sources for the state's 17,000 bears. Which means the possibility of more human-bear interactions into the fall. (CPW).
  5. Colorado's monsoon season could start earlier this year than normal. The Colorado Climate Center says that this summer's a La Niña could bring above-average temperatures for the eastern half of the state, and more rain than normal. (FOX31)

Are you a Lakewood resident looking for an investment alternative to the stock market?

Bloomberg recently asked experts where they'd invest $100,000 right now, and many of them had the same answer: fine art.

Thinking you can't afford a Picasso? Well in 2012, Congress passed the JOBS Act, which allowed for the securitization of artwork. A company called Masterworks.io built the largest platform for buying and selling art securities. In the past, you could only buy shares of companies like Apple, but with this investing app, you can unlock this powerful investment.

Meaning, you can invest in shares of million-dollar artwork. And in uncertain times, it turns out, fine art may be a wise investment. Here's why:

  • Low correlation to stocks according to Citi
  • Contemporary art historically returns 23.2 percent when inflation is >3 percent
  • Contemporary art prices outpaced the S&P 500 by 164 percent (1995-2021)
