Nominations Now Accepted For Lakewood Sustainability Awards
Nominations for Lakewood's 2020 Sustainability Awards will be accepted until March 16.
LAKEWOOD, CO — Nominations are now being accepted for Lakewood's 2020 Sustainability Awards. Community members who make the city more sustainable are eligible to be hailed as "green heroes," the city announced Monday.
The awards are open to Lakewood residents, students, businesses, city employees and community organizations that deserve to join the city's sustainability hall of fame.
Those who save energy, increase recycling, cut greenhouse gases, grow local food, clean up the environment and fight climate change are eligible for the awards.

The awards are given in the following categories: Community Sustainability, Defender of the Planet for youth leadership and Bruce Peoples’ Eco-Employee for City of Lakewood employees.
Projects must have been completed in 2019 or 2020, officials said.
Past awards have recognized zero waste events, innovative and energy-efficient building developments, environmental and ecological restoration, energy conservation, recycling efforts, neighborhood garden programs and other important initiatives.
