- Jefferson County adds nearly 1,200 acres to its open space portfolio. Jefferson County open space officials closed on 1,192 acres as part of a conservation mission will broaden recreation opportunities in the foothills in the future. (Gazette)
- Investigators find partial human remains during search in Boulder County. Two people are still missing after the Marshall Fire. Despite the possible casualties, a professor who teaches emergency management called the evacuation "miraculous." (Patch)
- Jeffco School District on two-hour delay today due to frigid cold weather. All Jeffco Public Schools buildings and facilities will be on a two-hour delay start schedule Thursday, Jan. 6 due to road conditions and weather. Buses will pick-up 2 hours later than their normal schedule. (Jeffco Public Schools)
- The omicron surge has Colorado schools wondering what's best for students and faculty. With the start of a new semester of school, thousands of Colorado teachers, school staff and students are bracing for the possibility of more disruptions fueled by staff shortages, mainly because of the omicron variant that has COVID-19 case numbers soaring. Will RTD ever build a train to Boulder? The newly elected RTD Board President thinks so. After voters elected Vince Buzek to the RTD board in 2018, he became a vocal advocate for completing that now-underfunded and unfinished program. (CPR)
