Here are the top stories today in Lakewood:

  1. Jeffco parents consider options as school closure list goes public. It's not just a building that closes, but existing communities get divided up. As the Jefferson County School District ponders how to balance lower school enrollments with which schools to keep open, parents across the district have concerns about what the closures will mean, as the potential looms for longer bus rides, losing access to beloved teachers and classmates being split up. (FOX31)
  2. Plan to cut ozone in Front Range released. The Regional Air Quality Council has approved a plan to reduce ozone pollution in Denver metro. Critics say the plan doesn't go far enough to fix the problem. (CBS4)
  3. USPS launches "Connect" program at 44 metro Denver post offices. Colorado is one of the first states to try out the US Postal services' USPS Connect program – which includes the addition of expanded same-day and next-day delivery options. (9News)
  4. In November, voters will get to decide if grocery stores can sell wine. When Colorado voters head to the polls in November, they'll be weighing in on the state's alcohol-policy war. Three ballot measures that could change booze policy, have qualified to be on the ballot. (CO Sun)
  5. Downtown Denver hasn't fully recovered from COVID pandemic. Using cell phone data, researchers found that Denver's most active neighborhoods have had only around half the activity this spring as compared to 2019. (FOX31)
