Point In Time Homeless Survey Underway In Metro Denver
Seven counties in Denver's metro area have joined forces to conduct a homeless count this week.
Dozens of volunteers will be out conducting the annual Everyone Counts Point In Time survey in Denver's metro area this week. The initiative aims to improve policies for one of the region's biggest issues — homelessness. The survey, led by the Metro Denver Homeless Initiative, will begin Monday evening and will wrap up Tuesday.
Each volunteer who is participating in the survey underwent a two-hour training session. The volunteers will interview people in emergency shelters, parks, riverbeds, human service organizations and other areas where the homeless are known to congregate, the Metro Denver Homeless Initiative said.
The volunteers are also handing out sleeping bags, warm clothing, snacks, gift cards and other items to the homeless.
