Air Quality Forecast For Front Range: Feb. 16

Another action day alert for pollution has been issued for the Front Range.

Fine particulate matter concentrations are expected to be in the 'moderate' to 'unhealthy for sensitive groups' categories Tuesday, according to the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment.

"People with heart or lung disease, older adults, and children should reduce prolonged or heavy exertion on Tuesday," the agency said in an air quality advisory.

Visibility along the Front Range is expected to be in the 'variable' category Tuesday, but shift to 'poor' or 'extremely poor' during the afternoon, public health officials said.

Ozone concentrations in metro Denver and Boulder County are expected to be in the 'good' category.

Carbon monoxide and nitrogen dioxide levels will remain in the 'good' category on Tuesday, health officials said.
