Presidential Primary 2020: Over 40K Ballots Returned In Jeffco
Jefferson County voters have begun to turn in their ballots. Here's the breakdown of Democrats and Republicans.
JEFFERSON COUNTY, CO — Thousands of voters in Jefferson County have already turned in their ballots for the 2020 presidential primary, according to Jeffco Clerk and Recorder George Stern.
As of Tuesday, elections officials had received 40,661 ballots. Here's the breakdown:
- Republicans: 17,030
- Democrats: 11,697
- Unaffiliated: 11,934
Coloradans will cast their votes in three elections in 2020 — the first of which is on March 3 — Super Tuesday.

Elections officials are encouraging Coloradans to make sure they are registered to vote and that their voter registration is up to date.

Important upcoming dates
Feb. 24: Vote Centers open — here are the locations in Jefferson County.
This is also the last day to register to vote in time to receive a mail ballot; and it's the recommended last day to return a ballot by mail.
Feb. 27: Jeffco Elections public tour and town hall. Learn more and RSVP here.
Mar. 3: Election Day. All ballots must be received by 7 p.m. (postmarks do not count).

Elections officials are also reminding voters that 17-year-olds who will turn 18 years old by the General Election Nov. 3, 2020, can now vote in the primaries.
