Today, in and around Lakewood

Lakewood Historical Factoids: The earliest settlement in Lakewood can be traced to those looking to profit from the Colorado Gold Rush in the late 1800s. With the discovery of gold in the Rocky Mountains – it brought a large migration of people to the Denver area. Eventually, settlers began establishing communities near the foothills to provide provisions to those seeking their fortune in the nearby mines. Farms, dairies and orchards cropped up, and are considered to be the early origins of what is now call "Lakewood."
