Teen Charged With Murder In Connection With Death Of Lakewood Man

A 17-year-old boy has been charged as an adult, according to the First Judicial District Attorney's Office.

LAKEWOOD, CO — A 17-year-old boy has been charged with first-degree murder in connection with the shooting death of a 64-year-old Lakewood man. The teenager is being charged as an adult, according to the First Judicial District Attorney's Office.

Caleb Hasson Brewer is accused of shooting Robert Steige to death March 9.

Family members called 911 after they found Steige with gunshot wounds near the entrance of his home.

Officers were called to the home, in the 8100 block of West 12th Ave, just before 11 p.m. Upon their arrival, they found Steige with two gunshot wounds, the DA's office said. He was taken to the hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

Brewer was arrested Monday, and he was charged as an adult. He is being held without bond at the Mount View Juvenile Detention Center.
