Here are the top stories today in Lakewood:

  1. More copper wiring thefts from RTD, this time in Lakewood. The most recent theft happened Wednesday morning along the W Line between Lakewood and Golden. RTD was forced to shut down the rail line because thieves had stolen copper wiring from the tracks. This has happened 17 times over the past few months, and has cost thousands of dollars to repair. (KDVR)
  2. Metro Denver is considered one of the best places to thrifting in the U.S. According to Storage Cafe, metro Denver tops the list for best places to find great stuff at thrift stores. The survey gave high marks to the Denver-Aurora-Lakewood area, in part, for the quantity of thrift stores in relation to the region's population. (CBS4)
  3. Colorado's front range is on one of the fastest U.S. housing markets to cool off. Denver's housing market was red hot just a few months ago, but with interest rate hikes by the Fed, it's taking longer to sell, and giving buyers the opportunity to find the right house. (FOX31)
  4. Historic Sand Creek Massacre site to be expanded. Interior Secretary Deb Haaland visited the National Park Service's historical site on Wednesday, where she announced that the site would be expanded by an additional 3,478 acres. (CO Sun)
