1. Start planning your fall foliage tour: It's not too early to start figuring out where to see about your foliage trip, including Golden Gate Canyon State Park and the San Juan Mountains. This prediction tool will help you figure out when, and where, the leaves are the best in Colorado. (Patch)
2. What are they building over there? A great way to stay informed about what's being built and where, is the City of Lakewood's Development Highlights page. (City of Lakewood)
3. Heading to the mountains with bald tires this winter? Beginning on Sept. 1, the I-70 Traction Law goes into effect – which requires that all drivers using state highways during winter months must have a minimum tire tread on snowy roads. Check your tires and make sure that if you're heading to the hills, that your rubber is ready for the trip. (Fox31)
4. They don't fly, but they're loud: Jet cars return to Bandimere Speedway for Mayhem on the Mountain. These jet-powered funny cars, like the "Grumpy Gorilla" and "Earthflight," are landing on Saturday night in Rooney Valley! Lakewood Fact of the Day: The name "Lakewood" originated long before the City of Lakewood existed. The name came from a subdivision that William Loveland, owner of the Colorado Central Railroad, established in 1889 near West Colfax Avenue and Harlan Street.
