Watch: Lakewood Woman Chases Down Porch Pirate Who Took Package
Renee Abeyta thought a delivery person was at her door. When she saw a woman walk away with her package, she sprang into action.

LAKEWOOD, CO — A Lakewood woman doing chores days before Christmas ran down a porch pirate after watching the thief take her package and flee down the street. It all started on Wednesday last week when Renee Abeyta's phone alerted her someone was outside her door, media outlets reported.
At first she thought it was a delivery person and went out to check. She saw nothing and no one.
Then she checked her Ring app, which records surveillance footage. A woman had casually walked up to her porch and walked away with her package. Abeyta bolted to her car and sped off after the thief. When she finally caught up, she parked, took off running after the woman and hit record on her phone, demanding to know the culprit's name.

"What's your name? Did you just steal something? Give it," Abeyta shouts on the sidewalk.
Abeyta had some choice words for the porch pirate and threatened to call the police.

"I got you on camera!" she yelled.
When the thief denied taking anything Abeyta didn't relent.
"Yes you did! I saw you!" she shouted back.
Finally, the woman ran out of breath. She stopped and gave up the parcel, which reportedly contained a crock pot lid.
"I don’t even know what came out of my mouth or even why I said what I did. It just happened," Abeyta told KDVR-TV. "I was mad as hell. There was no way I was going to let her go. I would have ran for as many miles as I had to to get my package."
