79 To Lose Jobs As CPI Card Group Closes Down In Littleton

The company will close its Littleton operation in June, 2018, according to a WARN letter filed with the state.

LITTLETON, CO -- Seventy-nine employees of CTI Card Group in Littleton will lose their jobs in June when the company closes its doors according to a WARN notice filed Feb. 12 with the Colorado Department of Labor and Employment.

The company manufactures EMV chipped cards, prepaid cards, contactless, and personalized cards used for debit, credit and ID cards, according to its website. The company also ships cards for other companies.

CTI Card Group will completely close the Littleton operation, located at 8034 Midway Dr. Unit C as of June 30. Eight administrative employees will be eligible for transfer within the company, the announcement said.

Employees affected include 30 machine and embossing operators and various other clerks, low-level computer programmers and staff.

“While these decisions are very difficult, we do make changes in our business to address the needs of our customers and the marketplace," said CPI Card Group Spokesperson Laurie Dornberger."Our unwavering focus is on providing value to our customers via market-leading quality products and customer service. In order to create higher levels of internal effectiveness and quality, we will be managing our clients’ products in locations that serve them best."

Dornberger said the CPI Card Group will continue to employ more than 150 people in Colorado.

The CPI plant was located in unincorporated Douglas County.
