Alleged White Supremacist Sentenced For Arapahoe Co. Burglary

A 17-year-old boy, home during a home invasion, recognized Ricky Lee Reasoner on a TV show about CDOT escaped parolees.

CENTENNIAL, CO -- A man identified by law enforcement as a member of a white supremacist gang was sentenced to prison as a career criminal for a burglary in Arapahoe County. Ricky Lee Reasoner, 34, was found guilty Feb. 1 of second-degree burglary of a dwelling and first-degree criminal trespass, according to the 18th Judicial District DA's office. An Arapahoe County judge sentenced Reasoner to 48 years in prison.

Reasoner was found guilty of breaking into a house in unincorporated Arapahoe County in June, where he was confronted by a teenage boy.

Arapahoe District Judge Jeffrey Holmes ruled Reasoner was a habitual offender and sentenced him to four times the maximum presumptive sentences, as mandated by statute: 48 years for the burglary conviction and 12 years for the trespass conviction, the DA's office said in a statement. Holmes ordered the sentences be served concurrently and also concurrent to sentences Reasoner is already serving.

“This was a grave and serious matter, as were the prior convictions,” Holmes said in a statement. “The legislature has determined this is necessary for the protection of society.”

On June 11, a 17-year-old boy was home alone when, he told police, he heard a noise downstairs, according to an arrest affidavit. He reportedly saw a stranger opening drawers and pawing through items in his parents' office. The teen confronted the man, struck him on the head with a coffee cup and the two fought. Eventually the teen chased the man out. The teen called his parents and 911.

On July 12, the teen saw a TV report about a Colorado Department of Corrections parolee who allegedly cut off his GPS monitor. The program said Ricky Reasoner was identified as an Aryan Syndicate gang member with an extensive criminal history and was thought to be armed. The teen called investigators and said he recognized Reasoner by his “devil eyes.”

Investigators matched Reasoner's DNA with samples found at the burglary scene, the arrest affidavit said.

Starting in 2002, Reasoner was convicted of aggravated vehicle theft, possession a weapon, trespassing, assault, theft and being an accessory to a crime, the DA's office said.

"This career felon is the reason we have habitual criminal,” said District Attorney George Brauchler in a statement. “This guy commits new crimes the second he gets a chance. He has proven at every opportunity that he is no candidate for rehabilitation and does not deserve to be in our community.”
