Arapahoe Cares: The Clue Room Live Escape
Since the pandemic hit, small and confined spaces with high-touch surfaces are things we all tend to avoid. Think about how that notion severely impacted some local businesses… businesses like The Clue Room in Centennial, where they offer thrilling fun with live escape games. You get locked in a room, the timer starts, and you have to put on your thinking caps to solve riddles and clues to reach your goal and beat the game. While everyone put gatherings on pause and isolated away from friends, family and coworkers, what wasn’t on pause for the Clue Room was their mortgage, their payroll, and their utility bill. They were suffering and left uncertain about their future. Arapahoe Cares programs were there with grant funding that kept the Clue Room, not only afloat, but also able to innovate: They got creative by developing online escape games to enjoy virtually from anywhere.
The County helped more than 1,000 small- to medium-sized businesses stabilize, purchase personal protection equipment, and keep employees on board. In many cases, this funding saved our local business from shutting down for good. More than $4.5M was also distributed to local businesses to help them pay rent. This is the second installment of a three-part series highlighting a few of the small businesses that are open today thanks to CARES Act funding and the extraordinary work of County staff to implement these programs and help save our favorite local places. See the first video about One Barrell American Bistro and Wine Bar in Englewood.
