Arapahoe County Investigator Seeks Help Solving Cold Case

ARAPAHOE COUNTY, CO — The Arapahoe County Sheriff's Office is seeking the public's help with solving a cold case from nearly four decades ago. Stephanie Bauman was found dead in a ditch near County Road 173 and US 36 on Oct. 28, 1980.

A driver saw the 15-year-old's body near the county road about five miles south of US 36, the sheriff's office said. Deputies arrived and found her bruised, nude body lying in a ditch.

Stephanie's clothes were found nearly a mile away in a pile, authorities said. She had died of hypothermia.

Stephanie reportedly lived in a group home but had run away about two weeks before her death and was staying with different acquaintances, according to the Arapahoe County Sheriff's Office.
