A deputy pleaded guilty to showing up intoxicated for work

CENTENNIAL, CO -- An Arapahoe County sheriff's deputy pleaded guilty to DUI for showing up intoxicated to work in September, 2017.
Karl Biemel, 49, pleaded guilty Feb. 9 to one count of driving under the influence with one prior DUI, the 18th District District Attorney's office said in a press release. Biemel was sentenced to 15 days in jail and two years of supervised probation.
On Sept. 27, 2017, a co-worker reported to her supervisor that she believed Biemel was intoxicated and that she could smell alcohol on his breath, the DA's statement said. Biemel had driven to work and started his assignment at 7:30 a.m. in court services.
