ARAPAHOE COUNTY, CO — When trying to get out of a speeding ticket, Coloradans have a flare for creativity and ridiculousness, according to the Arapahoe County Sheriff's Office. Deputies have published their top ten excuses speeders have given them, and the office has even offered some advice for the best way to get out of a ticket.
The secret?
"Just be honest and really, really nice," said Arapahoe County Deputy Amanda Cruz Giordano.

Here are the top 10 excuses speeders have given deputies in Arapahoe County:
- "I need to pee."
- "I'm going to barf."
- Crying. (Women and men)
- "I was just trying to pass that slow guy."
- "I'm not from around here."
- "This is a new car and I wasn't sure how fast it could go."
- "I just got a new engine and I was testing it out."
- "I just washed my car and I'm trying to dry it."
- "My nanny cam showed my cat attacking my dog, and I'm in a hurry to get home and break up the squabble."
- From the passenger: "Her car is a time machine and we're trying to get up to 88.5 miles per hour so she can go back to yesterday and undo what she did last night."
