Brinkman Sworn In As Mayor of Littleton

New city council members sworn in at Nov. 21 meeting. Valdes elected mayor pro tem.

LITTLETON, CO -- Littleton's new city council members were sworn in at the city council board meeting Nov. 21 and elected Debbie Brinkman, District IV, as the mayor with a 6-1 vote. The council elected Jerry Valdes as mayor pro tem for two-year terms. Four new council members were sworn in by Presiding Judge Ethan Feldman: Patrick Driscoll (Dist. I) and Carol Fey (Dist. III) along with Karina Elrod (At-Large) will serve 4-year terms. Kyle Schlachter will serve a 2-year term.

Carol Fey was the lone dissenting vote in the choice of Brinkman for Mayor.

Outgoing Mayor Bruce Beckman said he was pleased to see Littleton popping up on lists of "best places to live" and asserted that he and his wife decided if they won the lottery, they would still stay in Littleton. But, he said the work of past city councils helped bring quality of life to where it is now.
