Littleton City Manager Mark Relph announced today that Bemis Public Library and the Littleton Museum will not open Saturday, March 13 due to the latest severe weather forecast from the National Weather Service:

- Expecting 18" to 24" of snow
- Northern Denver area expected to get more snow
- Potential power outage and tree damage
- Freezing drizzle in mountains tonight
- Snow starting Saturday morning to midday
- 1 to 2 inches of snow falling per hour on Saturday night into Sunday
- Sunday should see 30 mph peak wind gusts
- Might be some slight showers Sunday night into Monday morning
As this storm bears down on the Front Range, the Littleton Police and Public Works staff are ready to manage the snow's impact on the community by reviewing weather forecasts and aligning resources to react even before snow arrives. The Public Works snow team has over 200 years of field experience in snow and ice management.
- Chains have been purchased for police vehicles and have been installed on two vehicles in case they are needed.
- Plows will start at midnight tonight and crews will work in 12-hour shifts.
- Plows are ready to assist police in getting to locations if needed.
- Coordinating resources with the Arapahoe County Emergency Operations Center if needed.
- Have plans in place to make sure police employees can get to work if they need assistance.
- Sent reminders to make sure police personnel check all their winter gear, with reminders of extra gear they might need.
- Worked with Commanders to make sure there is command coverage all weekend.
- Made arrangements for LPD and Public Works staff to have a place to sleep in case they cannot get home after shifts.

- 5 tandem axle trucks with plows and sanders
- 1 tandem axle with Mag Chloride dispenser and plow
- 3 single axle trucks with plows and sanders
- 2 3/4-ton pickups with plows
- 1 1-ton dump truck plow
- 1 frontend loader
- 2 backhoes
- 1 motor grader with snowplow
- 1 skid steer with snow blower
Crews will prep roads with magnesium chloride and sand at areas likely to see early freezing, then deploy plows as the snow ramps up.
Members of the Executive Team will meet virtually over the weekend to monitor conditions and decide Sunday whether city facilities will open Monday. Watch for updates at littletongov.org, cable channel 8, on Facebook, Twitter, and Next Door; or by calling the hotline at 303-795-3900.
