The girl said she met Kempter in a Reddit chat room for teen runaways and they also messaged each other on Tumblr. During their conversations, Kempter made it known that he wanted to have sex with the girl, prosecutors said.

After he picked the girl up at her home in Nebraska, he told her to hide herself in his car and he stopped to buy her new clothes, the attorney's office said.

After Kempter is released from prison, he will begin a 12-year term of supervised release. There is no parole in the federal system. He will also be required to register as a sex offender.
