JeffCo Slash Program Coming To Morrison
Jefferson County is encouraging residents to mitigate wildfire danger on their properties.
JEFFERSON COUNTY, CO — Jefferson County officials are encouraging residents to clear their property and bring tree debris to the county's slash collection site. The Jeffco Slash Program will be held every weekend until the end of October.
"Removing slash and creating a defensible space around your home is the first line of defense against wildfires," the county said in a social media post. "This is not only important for your property, but it means being a good neighbor by reducing potential hazards for the entire area."
Fire crews were called to a wildfire earlier this month in Jefferson County's Deer Creek Canyon area. The blaze spread by more than 13 miles until firefighters were able to contain it.
