Littleton King Soopers Recalls Meat Products

Construction workers accidentally disconnected refrigerated cases at the 8126 S. Wadsworth location, causing temps to rise to unsafe levels.

LITTLETON, CO -- Don't eat that meat! If you bought self-serve meat products from King Soopers at the 81st and Wadsworth store in Littleton between April 4-7, it may be unsafe, parent company Kroger said.

King Soopers is recalling most meat products sold from the Littleton location because construction workers reportedly disconnected power to refrigerated meat displays, allowing food temperatures to rise to unsafe levels, the company announced Sunday.

Almost all the meat sold from the self-serve displays was recalled including: fresh turkey, bacon, fresh chicken, dinner sausage, packaged beef, convenience meals, fresh pork, hot dogs, ground poultry, breakfast sausage, Lunchables, packaged lunchmeat, ground sausage, ground beef and hams, the company said.

Food kept at unsafe temperatures is subject to spoilage bacteria or food-bourne pathogens.

No reports of food-bourne illness have been reported. Customers who bought any of the affected products should return it to the store for a refund, Kroger said.
