Man Arrested In Connection With Centennial Gas Station Shooting

After a clerk was shot to death on Thanksgiving Day, a suspect was turned in by his girlfriend, according to a report.

CENTENNIAL, CO — A man has been arrested in connection with a deadly shooting at a Circle K gas station in Centennial, officials said.

Deputies were called on Nov. 26 to the Circle K gas station at 8623 S. Quebec Street.

A man in a black mask walked into the gas station and asked a clerk for cigarettes, officials said. The man then pulled out a gun and demanded cash, according to the Arapahoe County Sheriff's Office.

The clerk handed over several hundred dollars to the suspect, who then shot the clerk in the stomach, investigators said.

The clerk was taken to an area hospital, where he died. He's been identified as 24-year-old Mauricio Perez.

The suspect has also been connected with another armed robbery — at a Conoco gas station at 10210 E. Arapahoe Road — which occurred several hours before the deadly shooting.

"ACSO will not be releasing the identity or photos of the suspect for ID purposes," the sheriff's office said in a tweet.

A fundraiser has been launched for Perez's family.
