Man Shot And Killed By Police In Jefferson County
The man was a fugitive from Denver, the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office said.
JEFFERSON COUNTY, CO — A Denver man is dead after he was shot by police Tuesday afternoon near C-470 and West Belleview Avenue, the Jefferson County Sheriff's office said.
The man was a fugitive who was inside at an apartment complex near Belleview and Alkire Street, the sheriff's office said. A SWAT team was called to the scene.
When officers tried to take the man into custody, he shot at them, authorities said. The officers returned fire and killed the man, according to the sheriff's office.

The man, who has not been identified, was wanted for felony menacing, possession of a firearm and third-degree assault charges.
An investigation was underway on West Belleview Avenue Tuesday afternoon, and drivers were asked to avoid the area.
