Sheridan School District Cancels Class After Shooting

All schools in the Sheridan district are canceled after a shooting outside Sheridan High School.

SHERIDAN, CO — Sheridan School District canceled classes at all schools Wednesday after a shooting outside Sheridan High School Tuesday night. Police officers were called to the school at about 7:45 p.m. and the school was placed on lockdown during the investigation.

A person was shot in a fight in the school parking lot during a volleyball game between Bruce Randolph and Sheridan High schools. Both the shooter and the victim are both juveniles, police said.

The victim was taken to Denver General Hospital for surgery and he's expected to survive. He does not attend Sheridan schools, investigators said.

The suspect remains at large. His name has not been released because he's a minor. Anyone with information is asked to call the Sheridan Police Department at (303) 762-2211.
