Students at Merryhill Preschool Hold Celebratory Ladybug Release
Merryhill Preschool in Castle Rock students recognized Earth Day by releasing 20,000 ladybugs in their schoolyard to help local vegetation
Students at Merryhill Preschool in Castle Rock have caught the environmental bug! On April 22, students celebrated Earth Day and taking care of the planet by releasing 20,000 ladybugs throughout the schoolyard and back into the environment on plants, flowers and trees. Some students were dressed for the occasion in the likeness of ladybugs, wearing antennae.
Leading up to Earth Day, students learned that ladybugs serve as a natural pesticide by feeding on insects that could otherwise harm the health of gardens, trees and shrubs. Merryhill Preschool teaches the importance of community and exploring nature at an early age.
