Teen Shot In Face In Ken Caryl, 2 Arrested

Two teenagers are being held at a juvenile detention facility after a shooting in Jefferson County.

KEN CARYL, CO — Two teenagers have been arrested in connection with a shooting in Ken Caryl, the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office announced Friday.

A teenager was shot in the face Sept. 18 near West Ken Caryl Avenue and South Simms Street, the office said. The teen is expected to make a full recovery, according to the sheriff's office.

Deputies were called to the Swedish Southwest emergency room after the victim was hospitalized.

"Deputies were initially told the shooting occurred at Clement Park, but the investigation determined it was not a random act, and actually occurred at a residence near West Ken Caryl Avenue and South Simms Street," the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office said in a news release.

Two teenagers are being held at a juvenile detention facility. One teenager faces charges of first and second-degree assault, tampering with evidence and possession of a handgun by a juvenile, officials said. The other teenager faces a charge of possession of a handgun by a juvenile.
