Video: Bobcat Prowls Around Front Yard In Littleton

LITTLETON, CO — A bobcat recently took a stroll in the sunshine through a neighborhood in Littleton, poking around someone's front doorstep.

Bobcats rarely bother people; however, the animals occasionally kill livestock and get into fights with house cats, according to Colorado Parks and Wildlife. Homeowners should try to limit shrubs and easy hiding spots on their property.

Many bobcats and mountain lions are captured on home surveillance cameras in metro Denver and surrounding areas each year. What's the difference between the two animals? Bobcats are smaller — they weigh up to 35 lbs — whereas adult mountain lions weigh around 120 lbs. Bobcats have tufty ears, a stumpy tail and leopard-like spots on their fur.

Bobcats are often mistaken for another wild cat, the lynx, which is more common in Canada and Alaska. Lynxes are often larger than a bobcat, weighing up to 60 lbs.
